The End
In early 2005, the band suffered a setback when the personal issues of Ryan Pacheco led to his being kicked out of the band for a period of a little more than two weeks. During that time it was George Morris that did Plynth’s drumming, while long-time drummer Joe Godell took vocals. The real justification for Ryan Pacheco’s removal from the band was that he never came to practice and so little could be accomplished. With the new line-up, however, it became apparent that the change in dynamics was too distracting and it was more productive to have Ryan Pacheco not show up to practice than to remove him entirely. With this thought and mind, and the fact that the boys would soon be going to college and none of this would really matter anyways, Pacheco was invited back into the group. Soon after this turmoil was the aforementioned Club Alvin’s show, which was a battle of the bands with seven bands competing. All Plynth had to do was beat three of the seven bands to qualify for the next round, which was another battle at The Magic Stick. Of course, Plynth failed to beat their almost-worthy competitors, which marked this show the beginning of the end. After the Alvin’s show, practices became non-existent. It wasn’t uncommon for the week after a show to be a time for relaxing, but one week turned into two and soon turned into three. None of the members of Plynth so much as mentioned a practice or show for the summer. After one of the last Plynth shows, a Flea Market at Northern high school, Joe Godell took his drum set, and other equipment home without informing the rest of the band. This left Plynth with nothing and it wasn’t long before Zach Anderson’s father remodeled the basement where Plynth had once held practices and written songs. Some of the hardest laughs and happiest times came from that basement. The end of an era has come. There was no dramatic end, no great argument—no final anything really. There was just one final show in Pacheco’s garage on June 11th, 2005. We just all decided it was over. And we all miss it.
The first Mourning Prayer practice was sometime in late July of 2002 The first Mourning Prayer show was in Todd Butler’s basement on March 14th of 2003 The first official Plynth show was on November 20th of 2003 The last Plynth show was June 11th, 2005 The last Plynth livejournal update was June 30th of 2005 If there’s ever a new album, you’ll all be notified But this is the end. Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.
The Glory Days
In the beginning of the 2003-2004 school year, Plynth consisted of Ryan Pacheco, Zach Anderson, Jordan White and Joe Godell. This line-up stayed unchanged for a year and a half. It was during this time that almost every Plynth song was created. The first show that the final version of Plynth played together was an opening spot for The Beginning at their fare-well show in the Northern auditorium on November 20th, 2003. Earlier that same year, Plynth began recording of their first album, a collection of very simple songs from a then simple group. Ryan Pacheco donned it “Dirty In The Cellar” and the name stuck. This album included such hits as “Coolio’s A Robot”, “Highway”, and “Malfunction Malfucntion”. The recording of “Dirty In The Cellar” began September 7th, 2003 and wouldn’t be ready for sale until January 4th of 2004. Ever since the release of “Dirty In The Cellar”, Plynth has been working on material for an album that has not to this day been released or even begun the recording process. The album would include Plynth favorites such as “Plastic Crocodile”, “Altrix”, and “Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow”, if it were recorded. Plynth also managed to expand in terms of venues through the year and a half referred to here as “The Glory Days”. Plynth has graced the stages of such places as: The JCC, The Farmington Ice Arena, The Wired Frog (Roseville Theater), Club Alvin’s and Clutch Cargoes. It should also be noted that the boys were scarcely seen in normal attire when on the stage. Ryan Pacheco was known to wear the most bizarre things he could find when performing, including Indian vests and gigantic yellow overalls. Jordan White typically adorned his face in make-up, designing large black circles around his eyes and black lips while wearing some sort of evil-looking clothing. Joe Godell has been known to braid his hair, dress like a pirate or wear a sky-diving jumpsuit while Zach Anderson wore awkward t-shirts and suit-jackets. Throughout The Glory Days, the first goal always seemed to be having fun while dedication and getting famous took a back seat. Plynth never pushed itself as hard as it should’ve, and the boys soon realized that the slogan of their last official show, the Emergenza spot at Club Alvin’s, was indeed right.
Lazy Bands Die Young
Coming Soon: The Downfall
The Chronicles of Zach Anderson
To this line-up was added Zach Anderson as lead guitarist. At this point the group found something they had been missing up until that point, and it was called talent. Luckily for the other members of the group, Zach possessed a shocking amount of said talent (which made Jordan feel incredibly inept and bumped Joe down to rhythm guitar) and managed to carry the group on his artistic shoulders alone for the better part of a year. It was through this year that the other members of the band began to develop their own talent, mostly due to Zach’s constant frustration and anger at how bad everyone in his band was. Almost immediately after adding Zach, the band changed its name from Mourning Prayer to Plynth and practices were moved to his house. This line-up was solidified around January of 2003 and was then changed again in the late 2003 school year around May when Yuri Pavlov had to bow out of the band. Enter Kirk Scziepkowski. Kirk drummed with Plynth for half a summer, coming to only an estimated three or four practices. Upon first hearing Kirk, and also badly in need of a drummer, Plynth immediately accepted Kirk into the band and loaded his drum set into Joe’s car where it was transported to Zach’s house. After a few practices, however, it was clear that Kirk was not a good fit for the band and was then replaced. Kirk’s drum set remained at the Anderson household for something like a year before it was returned. We haven’t gotten everything back to him yet. He will probably never receive his pedal. Joe went back to drumming for the band, which was good because his rhythm guitar playing was not quite working out anyways, to be honest. Joe proceeded to buy a $100.00 drum set from Aaron Rosenberg in place of his electric drum set. It was also this summer that the band felt another name change had to be made. Several ideas were suggested, such as “Altrix”, “Jar Of Crickets”, and “French Toast and the Naked Grannies.” All of these ideas were ultimately rejected, and the name Plynth was deemed worthy.
Coming Soon: The Glory Days
This Chapter: Mourning Prayer comes to fruition.
With the rhythm section established, a guitar player and a singer needed to be added. Once again it proved to be very difficult finding a guitar player willing to waste their talent on a death metal band. Jessica Navarro agreed to play with the boys in Mourning Prayer, but did refuse to play death metal. Disappointed that they would now have to travel the path of “real music”, Joe and Jordan agreed that the band would no longer be death metal. Also added was Ryan Pacheco, who was loved by all but who could not play an instrument. The original idea for Pacheco’s involvement in the band was for him to wear a chicken suit and dance around on stage. This idea was scratched, however, and he was made lead singer against his will. These early days when Plynth was Mourning Prayer were strange times because no one knew what they were doing or how to do it. The more memorable points of this time period were trampoline wrestling and listening to other musicians, not really playing music. Practices at this point were held in Joe’s basement. From this point the line-up changed many times. Joe and Jordan had only desire and no real talent (especially Jordan), Pacheco was a shy singer and Jessica was into punk rock. Jessica soon left the band due to some discrepancy between herself and then drummer Joe, which involved Joe making out with her while he had a girlfriend. Yuri Pavlov was quickly added into the group as drummer, and Joe Godell was made lead guitar. The practice sessions were moved from Joe’s to Yuri’s basement when Yuri entered the band. Five songs, all of which were not very good and three of which were thrown out, were made while the line-up consisted of Pacheco, Joe, Jordan and Yuri. The two songs that were kept are tracks number five and seven off of Plynth’s first album “Dirty In The Cellar.” They are called “Eat My Brains” and “Devils”, and they are not all bad.
Coming Soon: The Chronicles of Zach Anderson
A little whilte ago, I (Jordan White), used my free fifth hour in the library to write a full history of Plynth.
For those of you that don't know, Plynth has officially broken up, though there still are some hopes of recording our newer material on an album called "Finale".
So here you go. Plynth was about a three-year-long idea that got its first spark of life from a joke. To all of those that liked us, we loved you. We loved Plynth and we loved everyone that came to our shows, bought our CD's, or off-handedly offered words of encouragement. Plynth is responsible for some of the best moments and years of my life.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to any fans we had.
Here is our history:
Plynth started out with a different name, different members, different capability, different direction, different everything. Here is an exploration of the history of the band that is called Plynth. The first union of the founding members of Plynth took place in the 2001-2002 (freshmen) school year when Joe Godell and Jordan White teamed up with Jesse Shepherd-Bates in a lame attempt to form a band called Cerberus. This band had no decided direction, and to illustrate the point, Joe debated between buying turntables or a drum set for this project. The would-be power trio, with Jesse on guitar, Jordan on bass and Joe on drums, never had a real practice, and Jesse disbanded the group when he realized it was a pointless endeavor. This band is notable in almost no way at all except that it was where Jordan and Joe got their beginning. Later, in the summer of 2002, Joe Godell and Jordan White were talking one day when Joe mentioned that he would like to start a death metal band. Knowing that no real skill was required to be in a death metal band, Jordan jumped at the opportunity and offered to play bass for Joe, even though he still wasn’t very good at it. Originally it was planned that Joe would sing, but it was found that finding a drummer, especially a death metal drummer, was incredibly difficult. So it was decided that Joe would drum on his electric drum set while Jordan played through his 15-watt amp with his Silvertone bass that came in a package together. This band would be known as Mourning Prayer. Plynth had incredibly humble beginnings.
Stay tuned...
Emergenza started off promising. The crowd seemed to like us, we got a lot of praise, we made many friends including Brad/D'Angelou/the lead singer of Maroon 5, and to top it off, our competition looked unimpressive. To give you an idea, one band was composed of 30 year old punks that covered Madonna. To give you another idea, this is a band that beat us. So you can all not look forward to seeing Plynth at The Magic Stick, because we did not pass through to the next round. We did, however, make friends with one band that is passing through, and may play a show with them at a later date, their name is Agony Lane. Also, the sound guy for the show liked us so much and was so unpleased with our not passing through to the next round, that he informed Pacheco that he works full time and St. Andrew's and will be getting us a gig there. I think all members of Plynth would have violent and frightening heart attacks if we were somehow able to open for the Queens of the Stoneage show coming to St. Andrew's on the third of April, but this will never happen and therefore should not be mentioned.
I'm not even going to talk about the new CD this time. I will say that we need more shows, maybe a backyard show when it gets warmer.
Plynth needs the following: 1. A loyal and large fan base 2. A PA 3. Many speakers 4. Roadies 5. Groupies 6. A second album 7. At least one sane member
Sorry about that but Plynth hasn't had much to say for the past couple of months. I could post a history of Plynth here if anyone wants to read it, but it's about a page and a half long. The Emergenza show is this weekend, so if you are eighteen, read this, are not leaving until after Saturday for spring break or are not leaving at all, and have the balls to come to Club Alvin's, you really should come. I lied in the last entry, two more songs have been added to the list for the new album. They are called "Song On The Ground" and "A-Words". They are both destined to become part of the "Greatest Hits Of Plynth" record due to hit stores in 2034. How many times can I tell you that the second album is about to be recorded? We are planning on recording the music over spring break because Joe, Zach and I are not cool enough to go anywhere. Pacheco will be in Florida so vocals may be delayed, or maybe we'll just do it all the Saturday before school gets back in. Either way, if you are in a band or have a friend that's in a band, comment here. Shows shows shows shows shows. We need to play them and people want to go to them, so we should get that organized. Other than that, would you wear Plynth buttons and T-shirts? Would you put Plynth stickers on your car? Would you wash with Plynth soap and play with Plynth action figures? You might just get the chance... Mon, Jan. 17th, 2005, 03:42 pm
Just a quick update from your friendly neighborhood band.
The new album has not begun it's recording process yet, but we have set the cut off for songs, meaning that any new material is being saved for a third album and that the second album will consist only of music that exists right now.
Also, our drummer Joe has made a deluxe edition of "Dirty In The Cellar", Plynth's first album. The new deluxe edition includes a bonus track and is mixed more loudly than the original. If you want to trade in your old "Dirty In The Cellar" for the new "Dirty In The Cellar: The Deluxe Edition", all it takes is your original copy and one dollar. Think of it as an upgrade.
Hopefully we'll be getting the second album done very soon, but then again I've said that a few times before.
Stay tuned...
Thank you to everyone that came to Mochas to watch us last night. Thank you especially to everyone that bought a cd at the show, and to everyone else that's bought a cd of ours. We really appreciate the support.
There are no shows coming up in the very near future, but still the Emergenza show looms in the distant future. Once again, if you're 18 or will be 18 by March 26th, come see Plynth at Club Alvin's in Detroit. It's going to be a big block of rocking music. This isn't just some teen show either. We'll be the youngest band, you'll get a chance to see some up-and-coming local musicians that have been honing their skills for years. This is also a reason that we will be needing your support.
Lastly, the new album that is yet to be titled will hopefully start being recorded over the upcoming break, and should be available reasonably soon, we hope. Updates will be made on the progress of the new album.
That's all for now, stay tuned... Sat, Dec. 11th, 2004, 11:32 am
Thank you to all the people that came out to our show last night.
Next Friday At Mochas.. Plynth will be playing... this won't be a normal Plynth show but it will still be enjoyable..
Thanks again to everyone who came out to support us. Mon, Dec. 6th, 2004, 11:33 pm This FRIDAY

Please come it will be well worth it.
WHEN: December 10th WHERE: the ice rink at the Founders Sports Park located on 8 mile road between Farmington Rd and Newburg STARTS: 8 o'clock try to come before BANDS: us(Plynth) and a local Farmington band

The guys in the band
Well, I apparently was very incorrect on some of the details in the previous posts, so I thought I'd correct that.
First off, it would appear that I thought it would be some how possible for something like six bands, each with twenty minute sets, to all play in one hour. I was very wrong.
The middle block of music I referred to in the very long entry goes from 6:10 to 8:10, so if you just want to see us, come at quarter to 8:00, NOT quarter to 7:00.
Additionally, the show at Mocha's is on a Friday, and it is the 17th, not the 18th.
I'll try not to write mis-guided entries anymore.
We have our first show of December on the 3rd at Northern High school. It's a five dollar entrance fee for seventeen bands and six and a half hours of music. We here at Plynth encourage you to go root for your favorite bands and come see Plynth at the (Edit) 7:50 spot. I, Jordan White, recommend you go from about 6:10 until (Edit) 8:10. This is the middle block of music, directly after the first intermission and going up until the second. Included in this spot are Phrog, Steve Kempany's band, The Larz Factor, Eric Tallman and Roger Sheldon's band that is supposed to be hilarious, The Satin Peaches, with George Morris, Jesse Shepherd-Bates and (EDIT:) Jeremy Smith and us, Plynth.
Next in December we have a show on the 10th at the beloved Farmington ice arena. The directions can be found earlier in this livejournal, because we played there in April. The first show brought in seventy-seven people, and we'd love to see more. That show's time will be posted soon.
Finally in December we are playing at the Mocha's coffee shop off of Haggerty on the (Edit) 17th. Times for that show will also be posted shortly, though I think we go on at 8 or 8:30. This will be a much or relaxed and mellow set. It'll be more of an unplugged atmosphere, which is something completely original for Plynth, so you should come check it out.
As far as shows after that, we only have one lined up as of now. Plynth has managed to get itself a show for March 26th in an International Battle of the bands, spanning over twenty countries in Europe and North America. The show begins at 8:00 and we will be playing at Club Alvin's in Detroit. It's a bit of a drive, but it's international and all the other bands will be refined adults that have spent more time playing music than I've been alive. Tickets are only ten dollars for four hours of hard rocking entertainment. The catch for most of you is that this is an 18+ venue. I won't even be 18 by the time of this show, which means I'll be shuffled off into a corner after the set is complete. Those of you that are 18, however, or will be 18 by the time of March 26th, please come see this show, it should be phenomenal and it's only ten dollars. Also, if we have a large fan base and get voted in the top four of the eight bands playing, we move onto another show, and potentially to another and another and another.
The battle is being done through Emergenza. The first show is at Club Alvin's, then The Magic Stick, then The Majestic Theatre, then Boston, then Germany. I haven't exactly got my hopes up for Germany, but I really think with enough support Plynth could make it through a couple of rounds.
Dates, times, locations and directios will be updated, added and repeated in upcoming entries. All you need to remember is to come see Plynth at The Battle Of The Bands At Northern on December 3rd. Come at 6:10, stay until 7:10, see some very talented young musicians, or come at 4:00 and stay until 10:30 if you want to see Jeremy Smith in all five of his bands. Either way, come see Plynth. Mon, Nov. 15th, 2004, 03:56 pm SHOWS SHOWS
First I'd like to say that the last post was not from the entire band and we are sorry for the harsh words... but second.. This December on the 10th we (Plynth) have a show at the ice arena in Farmington...
I'd also like to say:
COME TO THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS DECEMBER 3rd AT WALLED LAKE NORTHERN.. IT'S GONNA BE SWEET
(Times will be added soon) Sun, Oct. 17th, 2004, 12:34 am
I WANT TO PLAY A HALLOWEEN SHOW AND I DONT WANT A CERTAIN "CHRIS JOHNS" TO BE THERE. IF HE SHOWS I WILL PROCEED TO PISS IN HIS UGLY ASS DRUNK PUSSY SMELLING MOUTH.
Ticket venues that are far away are officially out of the question. At least in the immediate future. The Wired Frog was, in the end, a gigantic rip off that cost us 50 dollars to book, and which payed us 41 dollars. After cd sales (minus the charge of the live recording we made, which cost us 15) we came to 52 dollars. Which means, ladies and gentlemen, that Plynth officially made TWO dollars. Fucking AWESOME.
In some other news, the band is currently planning to invest in much more serious and more powerful equipment. With this equipment, we will rock you harder than we've ever rocked you before, because we will be louder, and louder means better right? And besides, it will be nicer and easier for us to have all the equipment. If we had that, we wouldn't have to go to these places like Clutch Cargoes and The Wired Frog and give them several hundred dollars only to get a fraction of it back in return. (Or in the case of Clutch, absolutely nothing back.)
In some other news, FUCK CLUTCH CARGOES!!!!!!!!
In some other news, since tonight's show was on the lame side, we're thinking about having another show very soon. Possibly in a little over a month. How does U.S. Blades sound to everyone? It would probably be Plynth and The Makeout Room. Those of you who saw us at the JCC already got a taste of their music. That would be a fun, local show that everyone could enjoy.
In some other news, I'm pretty sure ther is no other news. Thank you to everyone that came and saw us, or to those of you that bought a ticket and didn't come. We missed your support, but appreciated the money.
Stay tuned... Tue, Aug. 17th, 2004, 09:26 pm SHOW in 3 days
